Higher Education Guide for part-time degrees: University of Groningen one of the best
The University of Groningen is one of the best universities in the Netherlands for taking a part-time degree. That is the conclusion of the Higher Education Guide 2010 for part-time degrees, which is published today. Only the Open University is evaluated as better.
According to the Guide, the University of Groningen degrees in theology, religious studies and history are particularly praiseworthy. This is a genuine compliment, because the Guide also states that organizing good part-time degrees is by no means easy. The Guide is critical of the overall range of university part-time degrees in the Netherlands, which it describes as ‘extremely poor’.
The University of Groningen offers eight part-time degree programmes. Students often follow such programmes alongside their jobs. It’s not always easy to combine working and studying, but part-time students are often extra motivated because they are genuinely interested in their subjects.
