Emeritus professor Wil Konings passed away

On Saturday 5 July, Wil Konings, Emeritus Professor of Molecular Microbiology, passed away. Prof. W.N. Konings (1937) was professor at the University of Groningen from 1980 until 2002. He was the inspiring leader of the Molecular Microbiology research group from 1971 until his retirement in 2002. Konings also left his significant mark on the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute, as one of its prominent scientists, as well as its cofounder and chair.
In 1997, Konings was appointed a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
