GrunnSec 3rd Edition
With the rising global tensions, cybersecurity (and privacy) has become more important than ever. Started as a result of a kick-off meeting between RUG and TNO (Groningen) in the spring of 2025, GrunnSec symposium aims to create a synergy between different stakeholders on "cybersecurity and privacy" related research in the north Netherlands.
The event will consist of presentations from researchers, practitioners about their ongoing cybersecurity/privacy related activities from different perspectives, followed by discussions. It will be held roughly every two months. The first edition of the event was held on 12 September and the second edition was held on 11 November.
The overarching goal of GrunnSec symposium is to create a lively community around cybersecurity and privacy, and serve as a venue where people working on different cybersecurity/privacy topics meet, exchange ideas (e.g., problems, solutions, findings) and set up collaborations to tackle real-world problems. Strategically, the event also plans to go beyond Groningen and include nearby Dutch and German regions.
