Ethics of NeuroAI Workshop
When: | We 15-10-2025 13:00 - 17:30 |
Where: | House of Connections, Grote Markt 21, Groningen |
AI-driven neurotechnology is transforming lives - enabling communication and action for individuals with paralysis, supporting cognitive rehabilitation, and powering braincomputer interfaces (BCIs). Yet, as the integration of AI and neural prosthetics deepens, urgent ethical questions arise: How can we safeguard neural data privacy? What happens when the AI interpreting brain signals reflects societal biases? How do we mitigate algorithmic bias? What does autonomy mean in the age of assistive AI? Where do we draw the line between assistive and controlling technology? These are not abstract questions - they affect real people today and will increasingly shape the future of healthcare, personal agency, and digital rights.
The event will bring together researchers in neuroscience, AI, ethics, law, healthcare, and related topics to co-develop scenarios and frameworks that promote responsible innovation in neuroAI. The program includes an interdisciplinary workshop and roundtable discussion, followed by an infographic series and a short explainer video on how neuro-AI works, the risks of brain data misuse, and how responsible collaborative innovation can help. Join Andreea Sburlea (assistant professor in Human Centered Intelligence) and us for a thought provoking afternoon by registering below.
