Barbara Wisse and Claudia Kitz: Power & Leadership
Power and leadership shape how ideas are received, how decisions are made, and how individuals define their roles within organisations. Whether or not you hold a formal leadership position, understanding these dynamics is essential.
The Power & Leadership course, taught by Barbara Wisse and Claudia Kitz, explores fundamental organisational (and societal) processes and examines the intricate dynamics of power and leadership.
Wisse: ‘Throughout this course, we explore recent insights from various disciplines to better understand how people acquire, retain, or lose power, and what effects this power has on both themselves and their environment.’
Kitz: ‘We also draw strong connections between leadership and power in broader society. Participants learn to link academic perspectives with current developments concerning world leaders and other influential figures.’
Barbara Wisse is Professor of Organisational Psychology, whose research focuses on the complex and sometimes dysfunctional aspects of power and leadership. Claudia Kitz is Assistant Professor in Organisational Psychology with a PhD in Management. Her research examines leadership in challenging workplace situations that are often uncomfortable but inevitable, such as dismissals or giving negative feedback.
This course is offered in English.
