Eligible candidates:
  • be a citizen or permanent resident of an OAS Member State;
  • have obtained a university degree by the time of applying for the scholarship;
  • have a GPA above the minimum standard required by the university;
  • be in good physical and mental health to complete the program successfully

Purposes: The Organization uses a four-pronged approach to effectively implement its essential purposes, based on its main pillars: democracy, human rights, security, and development.

Countries of origin: OAS Member States

Programmes: Double Degree Master’s or PhD studies in any field except Medical Sciences and new languages; the Scholarship is for PhD studies in an OAS Member State during which DD PhD students can spend some time in Groningen

  • The OAS Academic Scholarships are complementary in nature, and do not intend to cover 100% of the Scholarship Recipient’s expenses. The scholarships have a monetary cap up to USD 15,000 per academic year. Not all OAS scholarships offer the same benefits; they are allocated on a case by case basis and may include:
  • roundtrip airfare (from the sponsoring country to the country of study);
  • tuition and mandatory fees;
  • yearly books allowance (USD 300 for onsite studies / USD 1,000 for online studies);
  • health insurance (for onsite students only);
  • monthly complementary subsistence allowance (for onsite students only), which is a fixed amount; for that you will have to demonstrate proof of additional funds, before the OAS issues your scholarship contract.
  • OAS Academic Scholarships are awarded for full-time studies at any university in an OAS Member State, with the exception of the applicant’s sponsoring country.
  • Study modality: onsite, online or a combination of both.
  • OAS Academic Scholarships are awarded for 1 to 2 academic years.
  • OAS Scholarship recipients must return and remain in the sponsoring country for a period of no less than 24 months after completing the program of study.
  • OAS Scholarships awarded for graduate studies and/or research, should be framed within the Comprehensive Strategic Plan of the Organization.
  • The OAS does not award scholarships for studies in Medical Sciences and the learning of new languages.

All applications must be submitted through the corresponding National Liaison Office (ONE) in your country.

  • Scholarships to study in an institution participating in the OAS Consortium of Universities: Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek their own admission at a university that is part of the OAS Consortium of Universities .
  • Scholarships to study in a Non-Consortium University: Applicants seek their own admission at a university or academic institutions of their choice within the OAS Member States

Requirements:

  • online Application Form / Demande en Ligne (Français, French);
  • copy of the diploma for the highest degree obtained (Bachelor or Master);
  • copies of transcripts of grades for all academic degrees completed and to be completed (If currently enrolled in a program of study, to submit the current transcript);
  • Curriculum Vitae; a maximum of 2 pages. (Do not include diplomas of conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. , neither photographs nor copies of your thesis project.);
  • admission letter(s) to university(ies).
