Eligible candidates:

  • Must be a graduate of a New Zealand university
  • Must be currently registered and enrolled for a PhD at a New Zealand university
  • Must have been enrolled in the PhD program for at least one year by the closing date for application
  • Research must fall within literature, science, or medicine (eligibility to be assessed by the selection committee)
  • Prior fellowship holders may apply again, but previous awards will be considered in funding decisions
Grant information:

Purposes : A travel fellowship supporting PhD students from New Zealand universities to undertake short-term original research or present at overseas conferences in literature, science, or medicine.

Value: Varies based on project and travel costs (refer to fellowship regulations)

Covers costs for:

  • Overseas conference attendance
  • Research stays abroad
  • Preference given to applications combining conference presentations with research activities

Particularly suitable for financing the part in Groningen of Double Degree PhD projects

  • 1 April (for travel between July–December)
