Excel together at the frontiers of knowledge

  • Are you looking for an extra challenge during your Master’s degree?
  • Would you like to be trained by excellent scientists and optimise your chances on a high profile industrial or PhD position?
  • Would you like to deepen your knowledge of your own field, yet also join forces with students from other (technical) disciplines?
  • Are you up for challenging real-life product development assignments on the forefront of innovation in the High Tech Systems and Materials (HTSM) sector?

Then the Master's Honours High Tech Systems and Materials programme may just be what you are looking for!

Innovation is the key to the future

Innovation is at the core of High Tech Systems and Materials. To be able to continuously innovate and improve products and processes, the sector is in need of talented scientists who are able to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, who look beyond the borders of their own field, who are open-minded towards other disciplines and the outside world and who are prepared to go the extra mile every day.

The University of Groningen – in cooperation with companies of the Innovatiecluster Drachten (like Philips Consumer Lifestyle, Astron, BD Kiestra, and Meyer Werft) – aims to equip talented, motivated students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel at the frontiers of High Tech Systems and Materials. This 1,5 year programme worth 20 ECTS is followed in addition to the standard Master's programme. It has been developed especially for students who want to get more from their studies.

What’s in it for you?

The Master's Honours programme offers intensive, small-group teaching with a group of like-minded, motivated students. The HTSM track offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with students from different disciplines on challenging, real-life product development assignments by the industry.

Students who complete the HTSM Master’s Honours programme receive a mention on their diploma supplement and a letter of recommendation from the Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen. This will give you an advantage when applying for positions in academia, the business world or the public sector.
