Laws and Regulations
The UG has to adhere to various rules and regulations in the field of AI, privacy and IT security. Of these, the AI Act stands out the most. This European regulation provides guidance in the safe and responsible use of AI. The AI Act works, among other things, with a risk classification for AI systems.
Some concrete regulations from the AI Act that the UG has to adhere to:
-
The UG has to work on its staff and students' AI literacy. They need to be taught the knowledge and skills needed to make informed use of AI systems.
-
The UG has to stop the use of banned AI. This ban is essentially a ban on the AI practices (use scenarios) that can cause large societal damage.
-
In order to provide an estimated risk value per system, the UG has created an AI register in which all AI tools have to be registered. This is registered by the Privacy & Security coordinator of the faculty or service.
