Sarah Bomkapre Kamara from Sierra Leone is studying at the University of Groningen thanks to a grant from the Eric Bleumink Fund. Before coming to Groningen, Sarah worked at Cotton Tree News, an independent radio project at the University of Sierra Leone. She says ‘... I believe that to make a difference, one must first be empowered. Part of empowerment for me is getting an education. As Mother Theresa once said, “To keep a lamp burning, you must put oil in it.”’
