Understanding pneumococci
Jan-Willem Veening received three prestigious grants in 2013. He was chosen to participate in the ‘EMBO Young Investigators Programme’, and was awarded Vidi and ERC grants. Veening will use these to pursue his current ground-breaking research into phenotypic variability in pneumococci, which are an important cause of disease around the world.
