Senior Kwalificatie Onderwijs (SKO)

Do you have the ambition to lead educational improvement and innovation projects in your faculty/department/programme? Do you want to make an impact on student learning beyond your course and to the broader curriculum? Then the STQ programme might be the right step in your educational career.

What is the STQ programme?

The STQ is a year-long, project-based learning path based on the educational project you’re working on. The project seeks to improve education at programme level by working with multiple stakeholders across the faculty (or university). The STQ of the University of Groningen is acknowledged by other universities in the Netherlands.

In support of the projects, the UG STQ programme consists of:

  • seven workshop sessions with peers from across the university;
  • regular peer consultations;
  • guest presentations of experts inside and outside the university;
  • coaching of CTL educational advisors;
  • presenting at the STQ symposium

How can you join?

You can express your interest in joining the STQ programme to your faculty board. The STQ programme is only open for those who are nominated by the faculty board, or the committee responsible for the nomination process. Across faculties the nomination procedure might be different. If you have questions about this procedure, please contact stq rug.nl

Entry requirements

To be eligible for participation in the programme, you need to have an appointment of 0,4 FTE or more and have taught at university level for at least 4 years, after obtaining the UTQ. Furthermore, the implementation of an improvement project is an important part of the Senior Teaching Qualification. Therefore you must have (or be given) responsibility for an improvement project that takes place at programme level that is in line with the educational strategy of the UG or faculty/programme.
