New UGP publication: Wegwijzer verstandelijke beperking en dementie

The book Wegwijzer verstandelijke beperking en dementie: 100 praktijkvragen en antwoorden is now available online and open access at University of Groningen Press (UGP).
The book is written by Alain Dekker, lecturer at the University of Groningen and head of Alliade's Department of Praktijkgericht Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (PWO).
About the book
People with intellectual disabilities are getting older. As a result, dementia is becoming increasingly common in disability care.
What exactly is dementia? Why do people with Down's syndrome have such a high risk of it? And what about people with intellectual disabilities without Down's syndrome? How do you make a diagnosis? And how do caregivers and family members deal with changes in functioning and behaviour?
In the Wegwijzer verstandelijke beperking en dementie, Alain Dekker answers these and other practical questions based on the state of science and practice.
