The Jantina Tammes School explores how societies can optimally benefit from and contribute to digitization, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI). Our motto: digital prosperity for all.

On the one hand, we investigate the ways in which human-centred digital technologies and AI can be developed and applied. On the other hand, we study the coupling of digitization, datafication and different domains of society and how this affects the daily lives of citizens. We do this by engaging in multidisciplinary research and education, and in close cooperation with societal partners.

Student-assistant teacher for practical AI tools workshops (8h p/w)

If you are a student who is curious about AI, enjoy teaching or exploring new tools, and would like to contribute to the UG’s ongoing AI transformation, we encourage you to apply.

Start: 1 January 2026, duration: until July 2026 with potential for extension.

The Center for Information Technology (CIT) at the University of Groningen (UG) supports the responsible use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) by centralizing resources and improving access to AI tools, policies, and guidance for staff and students. We aim to position the UG as a leader in responsible AI and a regional hub for expertise. As part of this mission, we explore and evaluate AI tools with attention to privacy, ethics, and environmental considerations, and we run workshops on practical AI tools across two main tracks:

  1. AI tools tailored for researchers.
  2. AI tools for students and support staff, with relevance for external audiences as well.

In recent years, we have received an increasing number of AI-related support requests. To address this growth, we established the AI Office to coordinate and strengthen AI activities across faculties. In addition, the introduction of institutional licenses for Mistral has created a further need for guidance and support. To support these expanding responsibilities, the Data Science team within the CIT, along with its current four student assistants, is seeking new student assistants to join the team. Working under the guidance of the team's AI expert and in collaboration with the team lead and other student assistants, the selected candidates will play a pivotal role in delivering workshops, evaluating AI tools, and curating a comprehensive overview of responsible AI solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience with AI tools and contribute to innovative projects while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
