The Research Group Conflict, Environment, and Society are pleased to confirm the guest lecture by Prof. Marcia Grisotti (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brasil), on 'After Hydropower Dams: Social and Environmental Processes that occur after the Construction of Belo Monte in Brazil.'

Prof. Marcia Grisotti is Full Professor at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil in three Graduate courses (Sociology and Political Science, Interdisciplinary Doctorate and Collective Health).  

She is coordinator of the Research Committee (Sociology of Health) at the Brazilian Society of Sociology as well as coordinator of the research group Human Ecology and Health at UFSC.

She a sociologist, deeply interested in the sociotechnical aspects around emerging zoonosis, the tracking and surveillance system for people, animals and goods, the logics underpinning the pandemics response/preparedness system, the gaps between the production of scientific knowledge and its implementation by different stakeholders in different socio-political contexts.

Her research focuses on social and economic impacts of emerging infectious diseases from zoonotic origin over the last 24 years as well as on the socio-environmental impacts of large hydroelectric dams since 2010  in the Amazon region
