Wanneer:wo 04-11-2020 14:00 - 16:00
Waar:Livestream

Join the Illicit Trade Group (ITG) on the 4th of November for their launching event! After three successful editions of a Summer School on Illicit Trade, shedding light on the dark side of globalization, ITG is broadening its activities by creating an interdisciplinary research environment at the University of Groningen to foster a discussion on the causes, consequences and solutions to the challenges posed by illicit trade. On the 4th of November, ITG will present its activities for the coming year, which include a Winter and Summer School organized with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), ad-hoc training, and university colloquia.

During the event, the pros and cons of Globalization, the challenges posed by illicit trade and the threats that they pose to the sustainability of our societies will be discussed. The discussion features interventions by Prof. Jouke de Vries, President of the University of Groningen, Dr. Leif Villadsen, Deputy Director of UNICRI, and Prof. Louise Shelley, George Mason University.

The event will take place at the Van Swinderen Huys in accordance with the guidelines of the RIVM and University Board. Because of these guidelines, physical attendance is regrettably restricted to speakers and organizers.

This event is sponsored by GSG and Sustainable Society
