Voicing Sustainability: Achievements, Progress and Prospects

When:Fr 02-10-2026 10:00 - 14:00Where:House of Connections, Grote Markt 21, Groningen

These are eventful times for sustainability at our university. The four Schools are being reshaped, and the future of the Rudolf Agricola School will be more closely intertwined with the three other Schools - in particular, the Wubbo Ockels School. Precisely at such a moment, the voice of our community matters most.

Therefore, we warmly invite the community to come together for Voicing Sustainability: Achievements, Progress and Prospects on 2 October 2026.

During this event, we aim to bring together the many voices within the School to share perspectives, reflect on experiences, and express how they see the past, present, and future of sustainability at RAS. We will reflect on the development of RAS, explore its main research areas, groups, and activities, and highlight key achievements. We will also look ahead to what will continue within the renewed RAS and what will move to the Wubbo Ockels School, helping to shape the next phase of sustainability work at the University.

The event also marks a leadership transition, as the current Director of RAS - Frans Sijtsma - will step down on 1 September 2026 after 3.5 years. It will be an opportunity to reflect on what has been built together, to connect, and to look ahead as a community.

More information on the programme will follow.
