3000th gift from Jan Noorlandt
On 30 November 2021 the University Library received the 3000th gift from Jan Noorlandt, archivist at the Christelijke Hogeschool in Ede. The publications mainly concern Theology, Groningen printed books and beautiful children's books from the years 1850 - 1950.
In addition to the Groningen University Library, Mr Noorlandt also donated works to other libraries in The Netherlands, including Tresoar in Leeuwarden and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague. Jan Noorlandt, who lives in Rhenen, would have liked to hand over the 3000th gift personally in Groningen, but because of the corona measures this visit had to be postponed for the time being.
The anniversary gift in fact unites the three fields mentioned above: it is a children's book (from the category of Sunday school gifts), published by Jan Haan in Groningen. Moreover, the story is set in Groningen and Friesland during the 80-year war.
As far as Jan Noorlandt and the UB are concerned: 'Onwards to the 5000!'
