Conversational Dutch up to B1
|Studyload:||16 contact hours, approximately 8 hours of homework.|
|Audience:||Those who have taken a Level B1 course at the Language Centre or have reached a comparable level of proficiency (CEFR level B2). People who have not followed the Language Centre Level B1 course must first come to an office hour to discuss with a teacher whether this course is suitable for them.|
This course is specifically aimed at students who would like some more speaking practice before moving on to a higher level, or whose oral skills are currently insufficient.
The course will focus on conversational skills. Various topics will be discussed using different working methods. This is not a grammar course. The emphasis will lie on learning to speak more fluently. However, speaking exercises with a grammar component may be included in the course.
Your Level > Office Hour
If you want to register for a course at this level and you have not followed a course with the Language Centre before, you must visit the office hour. You can only register for this course if you have been given the matching advice.
Schedule and registration
These courses will be taught as an online interactive group course via Blackboard Collaborate; our online classroom for the coming period! Read here everything you can expect from an online language course.
Compensation for UG students and staff
The University of Groningen partly or wholly pays for conversational courses up to B1 for international students, PhDs' and postdocs. Read if this applies to you here. Please note that this group needs to follow a different registration procedure.
The course material is compulsory and must be purchased by the student. The book can be purchased online at, for example, Coutinho, Bol.com, or any other online bookstore of your choice. When purchasing a regular book online, pay attention to the delivery time to ensure that you receive the book on time. You can also often buy the book directly from your local bookstore.
