The emphasis will be on communication in everyday situations in relation to Japanese culture. In addition, attention will be paid to grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Unfortunately, our new registration system often experiences start-up problems, as a result of which many of our participants aren’t able to register themselves. We would like to offer our sincere apologies to everyone who has experienced or is currently experiencing such problems. At the moment, we are doing everything that we can to ensure that the new system works flawlessly as soon as possible. Are you having problems registering? Read what you can do here.

Course Description and Levels
- Level 0>A1 is for participants who do not speak Japanese at all, as well as those who want to refresh their basic knowledge of the language.
- Level A1>A2 is for participants who have followed the 0>A1 course or have a similar level.
In the CEFR level 0>A1 course, Japanese kana characters (hiragana and katakana, about 100 characters) will be introduced. In the course A1>A2, only Japanese characters will be used. This means you must be able to read kana if you are planning to join the A1>A2 course. You do not have to be able to write kanacharacters.
Independent study materials
Good independent study materials for learning kana are available online / for smartphones, such as:
- Kana Mind (for Android)
- Nihongo no kana (for iOS)
- or search on Quizlet.com or Memrise.com for ‘hiragana’ or ‘katakana’.
Several Quizlet sets are available to help you learn vocabulary from the textbook.
