University College and UGP team up to provide publishing experience for students

The University College Groningen (UCG) and the University of Groningen Press (UGP) entered a unique collaboration to give students the opportunity to gain first experience in the publishing world and to publish high-quality work with a university press.

The new collaborative series ‘UCG x UGP’ published by the University of Groningen Press is set up to issue open access creative student works that have a demonstrable academic component. The first three books have recently been published.

As part of its curriculum, UCG facilitates the development and editing of book-length manuscripts. Students can submit proposals for publications; an editorial board selects suitable projects for the series and makes them of a publishable standard, including peer review, editing, typesetting and graphic design.

UGP provides a state-of-the-art open access publishing infrastructure and, if requested, printing on demand. It supports authors with traditional library expertise on publishing workflows, copyright advice, and takes care of the archiving and metadata (ISBN, DOI, ORCID) to ensure the findability of publications through worldwide databases.
