Data management checklist for PhD supervisors

As a PhD supervisor, you have a role to ensure that your PhD candidates handle data management in a responsible way.
PhD supervisors are required to:

Make sure PhD candidates are aware of relevant legislation and codes of conduct.

Address data management in the Training and Supervision Plan (TSP).

Confirm PhD candidates have filled in a Research Data Management Plan (RDMP).

Discuss data management during Results & Development meetings (R&D).

Ensure that PhD candidates store and archive data in line with data policies.

Encourage PhD candidates to publish data in a trusted repository according to the FAIR principles.
Once the PhD candidate has obtained their degree, consult the data management offboarding checklist to make sure that all necessary steps have been completed.
