CEER co-organizes workshop on Innovations in DSO Regulation; Update: Workshop postponed

Datum:10 maart 2020

Update: The workshop on Innovations in DSO Regulation, How to engage customers and utilize their flexibility, on April 3, 2020, in Utrecht has been postponed.

Friday 3 April 2020, from 12 noon till 6 p.m., the Utrecht University will host a workshop on innovations in the DSO regulation. The workshop will be co-organized by CEER together with the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development and the Benelux Association for Energy Economics (BAEE). The central question of the workshop will be:  ‘How to engage customers and utilize their flexibility?’.  To debate current and future regulatory developments, this workshop brings together academics, network operators, policy advisors and regulators. In two consecutive sessions, experts will show their perspective on the regulation and customer engagement for DSO’s.

The first session is centred around the current challenges and potential solutions in DSO regulation. In the session, both academical experts, including CEER director Prof. Machiel Mulder, and experts from the industry will talk about their perspectives on the impact of the ongoing technological and digital transformation of the traditional distribution network on regulation. Focus will be on how network regulation can enable technological change, while ensuring not only cost efficiency but also promoting fairness among customers.

The second session will pay attention to customer engagement and the flexibility options. Again, the session will include speakers from both academics as well as the industry. Central topic of the debate will be how network regulation can encourage customers to efficiently utilize their resources while providing flexibility services. As well as in the first session, there will be the opportunity for debate.

More information on the workshop and registration can be found here.
