Spanish Language Courses

The Spanish language courses of the University of Groningen Language Centre focus mainly on speaking and understanding Spanish. More attention will be paid to reading and writing skills from level CEFR level A2 onwards. Grammar is not a goal in itself in our Spanish language courses, but is used to support the language acquisition. A great deal of attention will be paid to acquiring a basic Spanish vocabulary.

Standard Group Courses

  • Course CEFR 0 > A1 and CEFR 0 > A2 (50 hours) are for participants who speak little or no Spanish.
  • Course CEFR A1 > A2 is for participants who can understand and speak some Spanish and get by in a simple conversation about everyday topics, if the other party helps.
  • Course CEFR A2 > A2/B1 is for participants who understand some Spanish and can participate in simple conversations and exchange simple and straightforward information about familiar topics and activities.
  • Course CEFR A2/B1 > B1 is for participants who understand Spanish and can get by in everyday situations.
  • Preparation for Spanish exam: DELE B1 is for participants who want to prepare for this exam.

Office Hours

You do not need to visit the office hour if you want to take a beginners Spanish course (CEFR level 0>A1 or 0>A2 course).

If you want to register for a higher level and you have not previously taken a course at the Language Centre, you can visit the office hour to discuss with a teacher which course would suit you best (but this is not mandatory).

Student workload

‘Studyload’, in the course description, indicates the number of hours a student is expected to spend on the course. A studyload of 28 hours equals 1 ECTS credit point.

Attendance certificate

At the end of a course, every participant will receive an attendance certificate on condition that they have attended 75% of the lessons.
