Dutch language courses for internationals in Friesland
This autumn, the University of Groningen Language Centre is expanding its Dutch language courses to Leeuwarden! These courses are the result of a collaboration with Talenthouse Fryslân, Wetsus, and other local partners. Together, we aim to connect people who want to contribute to a stronger and more welcoming Friesland for international talent.

Collaboration officially kicks off
Last week, the initiative’s organisers hosted an event to mark the official launch of this partnership. Henriette van de Bult, Head of the Dutch Section at the Language Centre, emphasised the importance of language in achieving the initiative’s goals: 'For nearly forty years, we have been teaching a variety of languages, and we understand how crucial language is for well-being and connection. Even basic knowledge of Dutch helps you feel more at home.'

Courses as a meeting place
The courses will take place at Campus Fryslân and offer more than just language lessons. They also provide a space for internationals to meet one another and expand their networks in Friesland, aligning with the initiative’s vision. Henriette added: 'We are proud to be part of this fantastic initiative. Learn Dutch, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and enjoy your language journey. We’re here to support you!'
Start date: 3 November
The first beginner’s course starts on 3 November, with courses at various levels to follow from February 2027. Those interested can now register for the first beginner’s course.
