DCC Workshop: Long-term data storage with RDMS - using command line

In this workshop, you will learn how to use the iRODS-based Research Data Management System (RDMS) via the command-line interface (CLI) and write basic scripts to automate processes.
While there is a vast selection of different CLI clients that can be used to interact with iRODS (see iRODS Clients), this workshop focuses on the official iRODS iCommands client. You will learn the following during this workshop:

How to install iCommands in a Linux OS.

How to set up iCommands to work with the RDMS.

How to use iCommands for:

General file management operations (for example, list, move, copy files)

Data transfer operations (Upload, Download, Synchronization)

Working with metadata (Adding, removing, adjusting, querying)

Permission Management

How to employ the RDMS in HPC jobs.

Writing scripts and running jobs in the background
