Discount schemes
Some target groups qualify for discounts on the course fees. Here is an overview of our discount schemes and who qualifies for them.
Standard discount schemes
For most courses, the target groups below receive a discount on the course price:

Students of the UG and Hanze University of Applied Sciences receive a 25% discount.

Staff of the UG, the University Medical Center Groningen, and Hanze University of Applied Sciences receive a 10% discount.

UG staff receive a 50% discount on Dutch courses up to level B1.
The latest prices and discounts can be found on the website’s relevant course page. These target groups must first log in via SURFconext, after which the registration system will automatically indicate whether the participant is eligible for a discount.
One-off discount schemes
Dual-Career Support discount
If you are a member of Dual-Career Support, you are eligible for a one-off €75 discount on your Dutch course. This discount applies to general group courses in Dutch up to level B1 and conversation courses up to level A2. Please contact Dual-Career Support via dualcareer@rug.nl to request this one-off discount.
Discount for partners of guest researchers at CEASG & GSG
Partners of guest researchers at East Asian Studies (CEASG) or Globalisation Studies (GSG) can follow one Dutch or English course at the Language Centre free of charge. This offer applies to general Dutch group courses, Dutch conversation courses up to level A2, and general English group courses. Please contact GSG (gsg@rug.nl) or CEASG (ceasg@rug.nl) to request this one-off discount.
Dutch courses paid for by the University of Groningen
The Board of the University of Groningen offers international fulltime students, PhD students, and postdocs at the University of Groningen Dutch language courses at the Language Centre.
You will be fully reimbursed for the course fee. As from September 2025 you only pay a €50 administration fee per course. This administration fee is non-refundable if you cancel your registration yourself.

Who is eligible?

University of Groningen Bachelor’s and Master’s students who are enrolled in a fulltime degree

University of Groningen PhD students and postdocs who are not using the expat scheme
