The University of Groningen (UG) Language Centre is proud to announce the launch of the third cohort of its training programme in teaching Dutch as a second language (NT2). After receiving a high number of applications for the first training round, it was immediately decided to offer the training programme not annually, but semi-annually. By training competent NT2 teachers, we hope to contribute to meeting the growing demand for teachers.

The training programme lasts one year and involves taking part in multiple sessions, creating an expansive portfolio, and completing a placement, after which the trainees become certified NT2 teachers. The first cohort will graduate in January 2025. The second cohort started in September and enrolment for the third round of the teacher training programme is currently open.

A noteworthy addition to this third round is the option to take the didactic preliminary course. It allows anyone who has completed the right preliminary education but does not hold a teaching qualification to still join the training programme. Thus offering even more interested people the opportunity to apply for this round.

The new round of the training programme will start in February 2025. Interested parties can apply until Friday 25 October. For more information about the training programme and admission requirements, please visit the Language Centre’s website.
