Let’s support each other

28 February 2022

‘The war in Europe has begun.’ This was the opening statement of the 8 o’clock news on Thursday evening. It was a big shock that, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, Russian president Putin invaded Ukraine and unleashed a war. Of course, we as the Language Centre are also deeply shocked by this attack that has brought war back to European grounds.

We have many internationals who work with us or who follow one of our courses. We sympathize wholeheartedly with our course participants, our staff members, and their loved ones who are in any way affected by this war.

In contrast, our motto is ’Express yourself—understand the world’. Through our courses, we want to contribute to mutual understanding and solidarity.

Let’s all be there for each other in this difficult time and support and comfort one another.

Statement UNL and UG
Please also read the statement from the Universities of the Netherlands and the University of Groningen.

On behalf of the Language Centre Management Team,
Anje Dijk, director at the Language Centre
