|Duration:||26 hours (13 or 7 weeks) weeks. Intensive: 2 weeks.|
|Studyload:||Each week: 2 (or 4) hours of teaching and 2 (or 4) hours of independent study. Intensive: 26 hours of teaching and 26 hours of independent study in 2 weeks.|
|Audience:||Participants who are able to communicate the basics in English. You understand about 60% - 70% of the content of TV programmes. (CEFR level B1/B2 reading, listening and conversation).|
NOTE : To be able to register, it is required that you have your language level evaluated through our English Office hours or have taken a previous Language Centre English course.
- PLEASE NOTE: The course material is available with a standard discount on the Study Store website > Rijksuniversiteit Groningen > RUG Talencentrum.
- The course material is not included in the course fee and is not available at the Language Centre.
New Language Leader - Intermediate (coursebook + MyEnglishLab access)
- The book, New Language Leader, and its online counterpart My English Lab, are both required. Together, they aid students in developing their English skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening, as well as vocabulary and grammar. The subscription to the online lab is valid for almost two years, so students can continue to improve their English skills even after the General English Skills course is completed.
You will also be using online course material in Nestor, the blackboard learning environment of the University of Groningen, as well as Google Drive and Google Docs.

Using a Rosetta Stone account besides a language course
It is possible to use a Rosetta Stone account for online independent study besides one of our language courses, with the advantage that the account can be used after the course to keep working on your language skills. Please note that a Rosetta Stone account is not compulsory for our language courses and will not be used by the teacher.
