I would like to test my level of Dutch
The University of Groningen Language Centre administers Dutch language tests for various target groups. For some of these tests, we also offer mock exams and preparatory courses.
For prospective students
Would you like to study at a Dutch university or Dutch university of applied sciences, and do you need proof that you have a sufficient command of Dutch? The Language Centre offers two tests for this purpose.
C-test
You may only take this test if Dutch is your mother tongue and you may only take this test once. The test will be scheduled individually for you upon request.
CNaVT exam
You must choose this exam if Dutch is not your mother tongue, or if you have not passed the C-test. There are two different levels of the CNaVT exam for students:
▸CNaVT Educatief Startbekwaam (STRT) at B2 level
▸CNaVT Educatief Professioneel (EDUP) at C1 level
For civic integration candidates
Civic integration candidates in the Netherlands must take the NT2 State Examination to demonstrate their language proficiency. The Language Centre offers preparatory courses and mock exams that you can take before the actual exam.
State Exam NT2-I (B1 level)
Would you like to take the State Exam NT2-I at B1 level? The Language Centre offers a six-week online exam preparation course. The exam itself will be administered by DUO.
State Exam NT2-II (B2 level)
Would you like to take the State Exam NT2-II at B2 level? The Language Centre offers a six-week online exam preparation course and the opportunity to take a mock exam. The exam itself will be administered by DUO.
For professionals
Are you a non-native professional working in a Dutch environment and do you need proof of your level of Dutch? If so, you can take the CNaVT exam for professionals. The exam can be taken at two different levels: B2 and C1. The Language Centre only administers the exam at C1 level.
- CNaVT Zakelijk Professioneel (PROF) at B2 level (via external provider)
- CNaVT Educatief Professioneel (EDUP) at C1 level
For young people aged 16 and over
The following A2 and B1-level exams for young people are offerted by CnaVT and are taken are taken at their location.
