Oscar Kuipers in documentary on synthetic biology

What are the possibilities of synthetic biology? Five scientists, one of whom is University of Groningen professor of Molecular Genetics Oscar Kupers, try to answer this question in the documentary 'Synthetic Biology in Europe'. This film was made by Camillio Meinhart and Markus Schmidt, and was financed by the European Science Foundation.

This is how the film makers describe their documentary: Synthetic Biology is an emerging field in at the intersection of biotechnology, information technology and biochemistry with the aim to make biology easier to engineer. But what exactly are synthetic biologists doing? And who are the people behind the technology planning to design and engineer living material?
This film takes you on a journey around Europe showing current developments in this field, portraying five outstanding research projects - funded by the European Science Foundation - and the scientists that drive them.
