Checking your personal information in Pure
There are several important tasks when using Pure:
Check your personal information
Make sure that your personal information in Pure is up to date:
Click your P-number at the top right corner of Pure → Edit profile
In the pop-up window, check the following fields:
-
First name & Last name: if these are not correct, please contact HR;
-
Name variants: you can add multiple name variants to Pure for optimal search results and presentation.
-
Title: if this is not correct, you can change it via the Do it Yourself tab in My University. The change will be effective in Pure the next day;
-
ID: in addition to your employee ID it is possible to add other IDs to your profile in Pure, such as a Scopus author ID;
-
ORCID: if you don't yet have an ORCID iD, please register and add your ORCID iD to Pure;
-
Photo : please upload your photo with a max. file size of 1 MB. The photo will be visible on the UG research portal;
-
Links: You may add links to your social media channels or your personal external website;
-
Profile information: here, you can add your 'research interests', which will appear on your profile page on the UG research portal and under the research tab of your profile page on the UG website (rug.nl).
After changing any field(s), don’t forget to save the changes to your Pure profile.
Check your research content in Pure
When logging on to Pure for the first time, please use these five steps to check your research data that is already in Pure:
-
Are there any omissions in your research content?
Please add any research output that is missing.
Note: if you have omitted a large number of publications (e.g. more than 25), please contact the library validation team at pure rug.nl.

-
Do you see any research content that is not yours?
Please report any research output that appears in your Pure profile but is not yours by disclaiming the research content: use the little gear wheel which appears on the right-hand side of the research title. -
Are there any duplicates in your research content?
Please report any duplicate research output by disclaiming the duplicate research content. -
Does your research content have an incorrect publication type?
If the publication on your profile page is displayed incorrectly, for example as a letter when it should be a journal article, please change the publication type. -
Are there incorrect citations of publications?
The citations of publications are retrieved from Web of Science. Please check the possible reason why the citation score for your article is not what you expected, so that you can correct it accordingly:
-There may be an error in Web of Science. If this is the case, you should report it to Web of Science. Once the error has been corrected the correct citation of your publication will appear in Pure in due course.
- The citations are retrieved from Web of Science weekly on a Sunday. If a citation has appeared recently, it may take a while before it appears in Pure (but never longer than a week).
- Citation counting is somewhat stricter in Web of Science than, for example, in Google Scholar.
If you have not imported the publication from Web of Science, there is no connection between Web of Science and the publication. This means that any citations of the article can't be retrieved either. We therefore urge you to import from Web of Science wherever possible.
