In April 2016, the Vrienden van het Universiteitsmuseum (Friends of the University Museum) merged with the Vrienden van de Bibliotheek van de Universiteit Groningen (Friends of the University of Groningen Library) to create a new platform, the Vrienden Academisch Erfgoed Groningen (Friends of Academic Heritage Groningen).
