New agreement for the reuse of copyright material for education

09 March 2023

The Universities of the Netherlands (UNL) and the Publishers Organization for Educational Licenses (Stichting UvO) have reached a new agreement on the (re)use of texts and images for education, laid down in the 'Easy Access Regulation'.

What does this mean for lecturers?

  • Teachers can use material up to and including 40 pages with a maximum of 20% of the entire work from which it is taken.
In the previous agreement, this was 50 pages and 25% of the size of the entire work.

Please note: The UG policy stating that no Pdfs of copyrighted material may be posted on Brightspace still applies.
