Locations and route descriptions
The Medical Library has 3 locations:

Main Medical Library
Antonius Deusinglaan 1 (building 3211-S29, souterrain)
With: a service desk, printed collection, course room, study places for students, group rooms, UG computers.

Silent Study Areas
Antonius Deusinglaan 1 (building 3215, ground floor)
With: study places for students, reservation required. -
Location Hanzeplein (beperkt toegankelijk)
Hanzeplein 1 (building Y4.206)
With: UMCG computers, study places and a workshop room.
Please note: This location is a dedicated space for PhDs, postdocs and physicians. The use of the facilities at this location is exclusively intended for study or research purposes where library facilities such as access to our collections are required. Workplaces at this location are not available for other purposes or other target groups.
If you belong to this target group, your department head can submit a request for access to us.

How to get to the UMCG?
By car
From the ring motorway around the city of Groningen, follow the signs “UMCG Noord”. This will take you to the UMCG car park.
With public transport
The UMCG is easy to reach by public transport. There are both local and regional buses from the central NS train station to the UMCG. These buses stop at the bus stop near the main entrance and/or the side entrance on Oostersingel and/or the north entrance on Antonius Deusinglaan. Up-to-date public transport information can be found on the Qbuzz and 9292OV websites.
How to get to the main Medical Library?
Visiting address Medical Library:
Antonius Deusinglaan 1 (Faculty Building), basement, building 3211-S29.

Enter the Anda Kerkhoven Centre

Turn right immediately after the reception

Walk down the wide stairs to the basement

Enter the Medical Library through the sliding doors on your left
Route from the Central Medical Complex UMCG

Go to 'De Brug' (The Bridge). This is possible from all floors, but note: there is only one connection to the faculty buildings and that is on the 2nd floor

To get to building 3211, walk the long corridor 'straight ahead' until you reach the hall on the 2nd floor of building 3211 (the building number is indicated)

Then take the stairs or the elevator to the basement.

How to get to the Silent Study Areas?
Visiting address Silent Study Areas:
Antonius Deusinglaan 1, ground floor, building 3215.

Enter through the entrance of the Anda Kerkhoven Centre (Antonius Deusinglaan 1)

After the reception, turn right and at the end of the footbridge, turn right again
-
Walk through the restaurant and then turn right into the long corridor

You will find the Silent Study Areas at the end of the corridor

How to get to the location Hanzeplein?
Visiting address Hanzeplein location:
Hanzeplein 1 (Central Medical Complex), 4th floor (Y4) Poortweg 12 or Winkelstraat 1.
Note: This library location is only accessible to PhDs, postdocs and physicians who received permission for access from their manager.
The Hanzeplein library location is open 24/7.
Route from the main entrance UMCG (Hanzeplein 1)

From the main hall walk to the right, past the flowerstall and supermarket; this is the Poortweg

Follow the Poortweg for about 150 metres

At Poortweg 12 take the stairs/elevator to the 4th floor

Follow signs ‘Centr. Med. Bibliotheek’
Route from from the entrance Antonius Deusinglaan 1

Take the stairs to the 2nd floor
-
Turn right into the hallway, walk through the gray swing door (a few meters left, and then right) into the corridor, keep walking in the same direction towards the Bridge (de Brug)

Walk along the Bridge until you reach the UMCG part (carpet)

Take the stairs to the 4th floor
-
After the bridge, take the first left
-
Then the first right (before the lifts)
-
Continue walking until you reach the entrance of the library to your left (Y4.206)
