Start of the New Calendar Year: Important Updates to Read and Publish Deals

The new calendar year has commenced, which means that the publication caps on our read and publish deals have been lifted for most publishers.

 Please note: Only for the publisher American Chemical Society (ACS), a cap remains in place. The contract with ACS has not yet been renewed. This means that, until further notice, ACS will directly charge submitting authors for the costs (APCs) of open access publishing. It is UNCLEAR whether these costs will be reimbursed retroactively for the period starting January 1, 2026. Therefore, we advise authors to publish closed access in ACS journals for the time being.
