"Migration: A Philosophical Toolkit" (ed. Marc Pauly) is the first open textbook published with University of Groningen Press that was mostly created by students.

How can authors recognise and avoid these journals? What can authors do if they have published with a questionable or predatory publisher? Open access specialists at universities across the Netherlands have written a guide that provides insight and practical advice for authors.

In a significant stride toward advancing responsible research assessment and open science, the University of Groningen has officially signed the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information.

From 16 March through 10 April the University Library City Centre is only accessible for students and staff of the University of Groningen (and other holders of a University card). Hanze students will have no access to the library during these periods.

The article in the spotlight for the month of February 2024 is titled The algorithmic network imaginary: How music artists understand and experience their algorithmically constructed networks, written by Robert Prey and Marc Esteve Del Valle (Faculty of Arts).

The new podcast Open Science Bites by the University of Groningen showcases open practices in a to the point and engaging way.

The UG has signed a new Read & Publish agreement with the European Respiratory Journal. In addition, several existing agreements have been renewed. Through these agreements UG researchers get reading access to scientific journals, as well as the right to publish open access at no extra cost.

As of May 2024, the bibliographic management programme Mendeley will no longer be available via UWP.

In the UB, it is now possible to use the lactation room, for staff/students as well as other visitors of the UB.

Open Access Publication in the Spotlight December 2023

All UG-dissertations from 2023 have been received in digital format. The PhD-regulations require that PhD-students submit the print and digital versions of their dissertations at least three weeks prior to the promotion date.

The UB will be open as much as possible during the holiday period around Christmas and New Year. Read more about the opening hours between Christmas and New Year and the first week of January 2024
