Sport Science & Innovation Groningen (SSIG)

The SSIG (Sport Science & Innovation Groningen) is a multidisciplinary network that brings together research, education and practice in the fields of sport, physical activity and health. Within the network, researchers from the University of Groningen, University Medical Center Groningen, Hanze University of Applied Sciences and regional partners collaborate on innovative solutions to societal challenges related to health and vitality.

The activities of SSIG closely align with the mission of the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health by connecting scientific knowledge with societal impact. The network focuses on three central themes: Sport & Healthy Ageing, Sport & Performance and Sport & Sustainable Society. Through collaboration between researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals and societal partners, SSIG contributes to a healthier and more vital society.
