Michi-Noeki - Hoe geef je de openbare ruimte een menselijk gezicht?

How can we give public space a human touch?
This question inspired the idea of the Michi-Noeki: a unique, accessible community meeting place. In the Oosterparkwijk, the Michi-Noeki has long been seen as a great success - and now we can support that with scientific evidence.
Are you a researcher, policy officer, professional in area-based work, or otherwise involved in improving neighborhoods and communities? Then you are warmly invited to an inspiring and in-depth event about the Michi-Noeki. During the session, we will share practical experiences, present the latest research findings from the University of Groningen (UG), and discuss the role and impact of the Michi-Noeki in the neighbourhood.
Moderator Gijs Nillessen is known for his energy and sharp questions and will make sure we have a lively and engaging programme.
Guests include:
-
Sander van Lanen (UG), Assistant Professor of Urban Poverty and Inequality
-
Louise Meijering (UG), Professor of Health Geography
Both have conducted research on the Michi-Noeki; -
Miranda Dontje (WerkPro), the driving force behind the everyday practice of the Michi-Noeki;
-
Monique Schuiten and Frans Geubel, volunteers at the Michi-Noeki who will share their personal experiences and what the Michi-Noeki means to them;
-
Frank Brander, Programme Manager for Area-Based Work, Municipality of Oldambt, involved in implementing and securing the Michi-Noeki within the neighbourhood;
-
Irene Edzes, architect at Vollmer + Partners and the original creator of the Michi-Noeki concept.
