Humanity Hit 3: The relief of Groningen

17 June 2022

In our Humanity Hits series, the third video has just been released: Groningens Ontzet.

In 2022 the city of Groningen will celebrate the fact that 350 years ago it stood up against the aggression of Bommen Berend. The UG, too, will actively participate in the commemoration, as professors and students actively and enthusiastically fought for freedom in 1672.

In this short film we tell the story of the siege and the relief of Groningen, but especially the role of the Groningen academy in it. All this based on the numerous books, pamphlets, maps and other documents in the collection of the University of Groningen Library.
