Speakers:

Prof. Dr Jaap-Henk Hoepman has been involved in privacy and privacy-enhancing technology long before it became a widespread public concern. In his talk, he will discuss some of the myths surrounding privacy (like "I have nothing to hide" and "We are not collecting personal data" or "You have zero privacy anyway. Get over it."). All to show that technological developments have had a tremendous impact on our privacy, but also can be used to protect our privacy. If only the systems we use are designed in a different manner.

Prof. Dr Louise Meijering leads a research team that investigates mobility in relation to well-being in later life, using spatial and qualitative data. Since she works with 'vulnerable groups' and sensitive data she encounters challenges around data management and privacy. To address these challenges, she has conducted several Data Protection Impact Assessments. In her talk, she will share her experiences as a researcher and team lead.
