Interested in a career in public health outside of academia? Join the ATN for an excursion to RIVM!
Interested in a career in public health outside of academia and curious to know more about possible employment options? Curious to know how research can inform policy? Join the Aletta Talent Network Community on an excursion to the RIVM (Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu / National Institute for Public Health and Environment) on 8th June - departing Groningen in the mid-morning and arriving back in the late afternoon. More details will come soon. More information about RIVM can be found here: https://www.rivm.nl/en/about-rivm
During our visit to RIVM, you will get a look behind the scenes of one of the Netherlands' leading public health institutes. We will introduce you to what it means to work as a researcher in a policy-oriented environment, where scientific knowledge directly informs government decision-making.
The meeting covers a range of topics that reflect the breadth of work done at RIVM. We will start with an introduction to foresight research and the Public Health Foresight study, which provides insight into the most important future challenges for public health and health care in the Netherlands. This is followed by a presentation on GRASPH, a project that identifies international risks to Dutch public health and translates these into policy recommendations. We will also hear about the GALA Monitor 2026, which tracks progress on the national Healthy Active Living Agreement, and about citizen science, exploring how RIVM collaborates with the public in environmental and health research.
Throughout the meeting there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and speak informally with colleagues from different departments about their work and career paths.
There are limited spaces available. If you are interested in joining or learning more, please send your expression of interest to alettastalents rug.nl
