Sociology in Groningen
Sociologists study human society. In Groningen, we take the premise that society functions on the basis of a wide range of ground rules and mechanisms. Think, for instance, of laws and regulations (government), rules and procedures (organisations) and the price mechanism (market). However, for the most part, social order also evolves spontaneously in the interaction of families and communities (primary order). During our Bachelor's degree programme in Sociology, you will study the interplay between government, organisations, markets and the primary order to better understand and explain developments in society.
