Herman is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Groningen, The Netherlands. Before returning to academia, he worked in various HR roles for 15 years, including senior management and advisory roles. During his professional career in the industry, he received several notable awards, including the Top 3 Indonesia Future Human Resource Leader Award and the Top 5 Indonesia Young Business Leaders Award. He has diverse research interests in the implications of contemporary work arrangements on employee well-being and performance. His current research focuses on how combining multiple roles across work and nonwork domains influences well-being outcomes. His research projects have been presented at several conferences, including the Academy of Management, the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology, and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology. Recently, he won a travel grant for young scholars from the Future of Work Institute in Perth, Australia (2024) and received a best paper designation from the OB division at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark (2025).
