Learning Community

The Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health and the Municipality of Groningen agreed to work together in the field of Healthy Ageing. The goal of this collaboration is to improve health within the municipality and to develop evidence-based health policies.

The collaboration between the AJSPH and the municipality of Groningen has taken shape through a Learning Community consisting of four work packages. Within each work package, a team consisting of employees of the knowledge institutions and employees of the municipality work together on the objectives. The work packages focus on knowledge exchange, policy development, monitoring and evaluation of policy, and communication and coordinations in the Learning Community.

Together with the municipality of Groningen, Aletta is working on a Learning Community around neighbourhood-centered health & well-being policies. In this Learning Community, we aim to share scientific, practical and societal knowledge in order to gain new insights and improve municipal policies on health. One of the activities we organise in the Learning Community is a series of knowledge studio sessions (Dutch: kennisateliers). The first session was about communicating with vulnerable groups and people with a lower socio-economic status. Dr. Susanne Täuber (FEB) and prof. dr. Arie Dijkstra (BSS) presented their research on this theme, after which practical issues in the municipality were discussed. Graphic notes of the meeting were made by Anne Stalinski.
