10X-Factor(y): Towards a Dutch ecosystem for neuromorphic technologies

The 10X-Factor(y) project is a collaboration between CogniGron, University of Twente, University of Delft, CWI Institute Amsterdam, Technical University of Eindhoven, and the University of Nijmegen. This initiative aims to form an integrated learning community linking research, education and industry. 

Our ambition is to develop prototypes, train new experts, and test scalable applications. With shared infrastructure, co-design platforms, and responsible innovation frameworks, the programme will consolidate the Netherlands as a global leader in sustainable, energy-efficient neuromorphic computing. The demonstrator structure enables academic and industrial partners to jointly define problems, share infrastructure, and validate results under real-world conditions. 

Neuromorphic Computing Ecosystem

As CogniGron continues to conduct fundamental research into future-proof computing, translating existing knowledge into specific applications, we aim to connect our scientific knowledge and business skills. We envision an ecosystem where business and knowledge partners collaborate and work on brain-inspired energy-efficient computing solutions.

Within this ecosystem, we will collaborate on:

• Developing new materials as the basis for future-proof computer chips
• Integrating applied engineering research to translate our knowledge into production
• Initiating first applications for the implementation of neuromorphic computing
• Establishing start-ups to bring applications to market

Neuromorphic Computing NL

CogniGron is proud to be part of the recently launched Neuromorphic Computing NL (NC-NL) alliance, a national initiative that brings together research excellence, innovation, and ambition to shape the future of brain-inspired technology.

Neuromorphic Computing NL is building the foundations for a strong and connected Dutch ecosystem in neuromorphic computing. The coalition brings together leading Dutch organisations from the private sector, academia, research institutes, and government. Through a national Action Plan, these partners are joining forces to ensure that the Netherlands remains at the forefront of neuromorphic and deep-tech innovation — a digital key technology with the potential to radically change the future of computing.

Launched by Digital Holland together with key players from industry, knowledge institutions, and government agencies, Neuromorphic Computing NL marks an important milestone. Through collaboration, shared ambition, and long-term commitment, the initiative aims to secure the Netherlands’ leading role in neuromorphic computing.
