How can I extend an embargo?

In some cases, it may be desirable to agree to place the thesis under embargo for longer than one year following the date of the PhD ceremony. In such cases, the Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen will determine the duration of the embargo at his or her discretion. In doing so, he or she will take into account any agreements made with the publisher and any explanations provided by the PhD candidate.

The PhD candidate must submit a written request, with an explanation, addressed to the Rector Magnificus of the University of Groningen. The request is processed by the University Library and must be emailed to dissertations rug.nl.
