Publish journals, books or conference proceedings with help from the library

For some years now, the University of Groningen Library has provided a publishing platform for journals edited by faculty and researchers working at or with the University of Groningen (UG). Supported by the Strategic ICT Fund of the University, we are working to extend this service to books and conference proceedings, and upgrade both the supporting functions (DOIs, CC licences, quality certification) and the look-and-feel.

Our preferred publishing model is “diamond” (APC-free) open access, self-organised by the editorial boards and funded by institutional sponsorships.

At the moment our publishing platform hosts a dozen journals in various fields, going back as far back as 1992 for active journals and 1925 for archival journals. We will continue to welcome new journals, and from now on also books and conference proceedings.

If the project is successful, it may lead to a full-blown University of Groningen Press.
