Emerald agreement: annual quota reached

28 November 2022

According to the agreement between Emerald and UNL (Universities of The Netherlands), corresponding authors from Dutch universities are entitled to 86 vouchers which allow open access publication at no extra cost in Emerald journals. On 25 November 2022, all available vouchers were used. This means that the deal is suspended for the remainder of 2022 and UG/UMCG articles will no longer be eligible for the usual discount on the open access fee.

What are the consequences?

If your article is accepted for publication between 25 November and 1 January 2023, Emerald still offers the possibility to publish it open access, but the costs will no longer be covered by the consortium agreement. If you choose to publish open access, you will be responsible for covering the fee yourself.

The current agreement with Emerald will continue in 2023 and 101 vouchers allowing open access publication at no extra cost will be available. Dutch corresponding authors will be able to use the new allocation of open access vouchers as of 1 January 2023 until the annual quota is reached.

If you wish to discuss the available options or if you have any questions email us at openaccess rug.nl or openaccess umcg.nl.
